Chris's passion is in identifying and commercializing leading-edge graphics software technologies for various vertical markets. In 2008, Chris saw the challenges developers faced in creating stunning graphical user interfaces’ which could keep pace with application design changes, new content introductions and platform performance trends. As AMI’s CEO, Chris leverages his extensive experience in graphics technologies, software and embedded systems development to focus the company on driving innovative, cross-platform UI capabilities. Chris is very active in the Toronto start-up community and more recently started mentoring at Ryerson University's Digital Media Zone (DMZ).
In 1994, Chris founded ALT Software to provide device drivers for the myriad of existing GPUs and the major operating systems. ALT Software has become the primary independent supplier of Safety Critical 3D device drivers powering the cockpit displays of many commercial and military aircraft. Chris transferred his ALT Software CEO & President responsibilities in 2008 to focus on new opportunities. Prior to 1994, Chris worked at ATI Technologies as part of the core software development team. Chris attended the University of Toronto where he majored in Computer Science with a minor in Commerce. Lisa excels in learning new skills and brings that wealth of knowledge and varied work experiences to Animated Media. Her "past" career was as a senior paralegal, specializing in trademark and copyright law, technology licensing and contracts, and she worked in key legal roles at Silicon Valley giants such as Intuit, Hewlett-Packard, and Oracle. At Intuit, Lisa worked with many of the brand and marketing teams as a legal representative for establishing new brands, product names, logos, designs, taglines, etc. In 2004, Lisa transitioned her career to focus on marketing and PR full-time, and joined ALT Software as the Director of Marketing where she was instrumental in building ALT’s brand and establishing ALT’s partnerships with OS and Hardware vendors. Given her background, Lisa was also ALT Software's Director of Legal Affairs overseeing all legal-related matters, working as the secretary for the Board of Directors, and assisting senior management in the company's investment and M&A activities.
Now for Animated Media, she is stretching her marketing skills to new levels by working on website design and development and front-end UI app design, as well as dabbling in Flash development, and honing her skills in social media marketing strategies. Lisa graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Legal Studies and received her Paralegal Certification with Honors from the University of San Diego. Anne-Marie Huurre, Product Evangelist – Mobile, Apps & Games
Anne-Marie has been a pioneer in the game industry, from exporting Canada’s first female-centric computer game in the early 90's, to producing and/or directing over 75 shipped games and edutainment properties. As an executive producer, she has had first hand experience in software developement including animation programs, game engines and disruptive technologies. Anne-Marie has also been an advocate for women in gaming and technology. She continues to advocate through her public speaking and Womenwise.com initiative, and is a International Game Developer Association chapter coordinator in Toronto. She also serves as an advisor for Interactive Ontario Association’s Mobile Platform Committee.
Andrew Schmied – Business Development & Investment
Andrew is a business development professional, focused on helping innovative technology companies grow in global markets. His experience includes semiconductor, display, software and hardware platform technologies in consumer, mobile, health, energy and defense markets. Prior to joining AMI, Andrew held leadership positions in executive management, strategic development, marketing, sales and technology planning.
Bob Starr – Java & Mobile
Bob has been at the center of developing, marketing, and selling new software and hardware technologies since 1986. He has helped a number of start-ups navigate and prosper while pioneering new product offerings. Bob had a hand in many market “firsts” including establishing the Yamaha OPL2/OPL3 as “the standard” for PC-based sound cards and promoting the use of music and sound effects in PC games. While Chairman of the Executive Board of the MIDI Manufacturers Association, he helped establish new audio standards for MIDI and Mobile MIDI. Most recently Bob was the Business and Marketing Manager for Worldwide Engineering Services at Sun Microsystems, where he and the his team provided custom Java implementations for mobile phones, Blu-ray Disks, Set Top Boxes and IPTV devices to many of the world’s top electronic device manufacturers.
